Blue City Escape

Overview

Escape Fez for a day and travel north through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famously photogenic “Blue City.” The drive offers a refreshing change of scenery—rolling hills, mountain roads, and rural viewpoints—before you arrive near the medina. After arrival, you’ll have generous free time to explore at your own rhythm, without feeling locked into a strict schedule.

Chefchaouen is best experienced slowly: wandering its blue-painted lanes, finding hidden corners and stairways, browsing small artisan shops, and stopping whenever you like for mint tea or a light snack. Your driver (and guide if selected) can suggest the best areas to focus on depending on your interests—classic photo streets, quieter alleys away from the crowds, and the easiest routes through the old town. If you’d like, you can add a short walk to a viewpoint for a wider look over the blue rooftops and surrounding mountains (timing and season permitting). This day trip is ideal for travelers who want a relaxed, scenic outing with plenty of flexibility for photos, cafés, and shopping
